Evening Semi-formal (For weddings and theater opening nights): black jacket or white tuxedo, black pants with one satin seam on the outside leg, black vest or cummerbund, black bow tie, white silk scarf, black or gold cuff links and studs.


Day or Evening Informal (This does not mean casual. Think cocktails and business functions): business suit, necktie, lace-up shoes. A non-button-down collar dress shirt may also do for evening occasions.


Casual Wear By Occasion


Though most people tend to believe so, casual does not mean you can wear anything you want. There are still some time and place for certain items of clothing. Below are some simple rules on which items you can wear on certain casual occasions.


Business Casual (Also known as executive casual or corporate casual. This is the level beneath the business suit and tie occasions like office parties and other meetings): suit or sports jacket, sweater, optional tie. The idea for this type of casual wear is that you have a slightly relaxed look, but you're still there for business.


Casual Chic (Also known as dress or resort casual, perfect when going to events on country clubs and members-only functions): dress pants, sport or dress shirt, dress shirt or knit polo shirt, sweater or sports jacket, leather shoes and belt.


Sporty Casual (This is the rugged or outdoor look. Occasions include trips to a local pub, playing sports or a third date): khakis or comfortable pants, pique shirt or any shirt with collar, comfortable loafers, white cocks. The key here is the you need to be comfortable but still look good and presentable. It may be casual, but you should also remember that you still need time to coordinate colors.


Saturday Casual (Also known as leisure clothes. This are what you wear when going out shopping or hanging out with buddies): shorts, T-shirt, sneakers or rubber shoes, white socks.


Active Casual (This are the things you wear when doing stuff like playing basketball, going to the gym, washing your car, mowing the lawn, etc): sweat pants, T-shirt, slippers.


These are just some suggestions on what you can wear on certain occasions. Though they are not concrete fashion laws, it will be very helpful to follow these tips to be able to make sure that you are always dress appropriately whether you're on business or play. Always remember, people judge people based on what they wear.
