How to Wear Summer Dresses in Winter

Cotton shirt-dresses

In summer. A shirt-dress, as if taken from your boyfriend's wardrobe is cosy, but at the same time daring. It's a perfect garment for get-togethers with you friends, visits to your parents and shopping. We wear it with ballet slippers. A waistcoat, a cross-body bag and a lot of accessories are the dress's fashionable companions.

In winter. It's impossible to forget your favorite shirt-dress in winter as wearing shirt-dresses is very this season. Leggings, tight jeans will not only warm your legs in cold and frosty weather, but will also create a necessary silhouette: the shirt will hide excessive centimeters of your waist and kilos of your stomach while tight trousers, especially dark ones, will make your legs look even slenderer. In order to make it comfortable to run around the city reaching the speed of light put on flat high boots or uggs. Wear a short jacket that barely reaches your hips with the dress; for example, a single-breasted or a summer denim jacket. A short parka will also do.

Never. All that covers your hips, like knitted jackets of the same length as the shirt-dress, tights, high-heeled footwear, boots; better wear all this with other garments.

Knitted knee length dress

In summer. A good solution for those who work in the office. On the one hand the dress looks business-like, but on the other hand it won't let your body suffocate. Such a dress is not tight, it doesn't hinder your movements and you're not hot wearing it. It's worn with pumps, ballet slips and jackets.

In winter. Knitted garments are usually very thin and wearing a knitted dress with too many other garments will make you look too cumbersome. Stick to a reserved style. Such a dress will look fine with business-like accessories: thick tights (but not woolen) and low heeled high boots. Choose high boots that tight-fit your legs. Wear the dress with a classical jacket.

Never. Coarse looking cloth, baggy and loose clothing that doesn't outline the figure will irreversibly damage you image.

Silk summer dresses

In summer. On solemn occasions or when we have a date we usually wear silk dresses with spikes and stilettos. A tippet or a lace shawl will protect you from cold wind.

In winter. The main reason we cannot wear summer dresses in winter is their incompatibility with low temperatures. But a dress made of dense silk can be worn even when it's frosty provided you wear it with woolen tights, knee boots on a thin at least seven centimeter high heel. Put on a fisherman's knit cardigan or a warm shawl over the dress. Play on a combination of different textures. Silk matches wool perfectly.

Never. Don't wear the dress with leggings and uggs. Don't put it on over turtleneck sweaters or knitted jackets: silk will bristle and this will spoil the silhouette.

Silk caftans

In summer. When it's hot and we're in the city we can wear a silk tunic with tight summer trousers. A long silk caftan is worn by itself, though. Use bright sandals or open-toe sandals as footwear with silk caftans. Light silk caftans will save you from strong summer sunlight when you are on the beach.

In winter. Wearing a silk caftan at home is not irrelevant either. If your room climate allows you to wear light clothing put on a colorful caftan. In grey winter evenings it will remind you of your summer experiences.

Never. Don't wear the garment with baggy trousers.

Sheath dress

In summer. The dress is perfect garment for slender young girls with a fine waist. Sheath dress is the best choice if you want to look chicly and reserved. It's usually worn with spikes, elegant accessories and a clutch bag.

In winter. The governing principle is elegance and classic. Sheath dresses are usually made of dense cloth; that's why you can wear it over a turtleneck sweater. The main thing is that the sweater should match it or make a contrast. You can wear the dress with a thin kerseymere pullover or something else made of thin cloth. The most preferable cuts are square cut or boat cut. Choose either black patterned or flesh-colored tights to match the dress. Woolen tights wouldn't do. Put on high density (80 Den) lycra tights and high heeled footwear. The higher the hell the better.

Never. Coarse looking, flashy and sports clothing as well as fisherman's knit garments and flat footwear will spoil the elegance of your costume.
